Sniffing My Way to the Dog Parade

All of the dogs in the neighborhood were howling and barking from their yards on the morning of the Mardi Gras Dog Parade in St. Louis. In order to fit in with the other dogs, I put on my favorite t-shirt and gold chain. I finally made it down to the city streets. I was so excited, my ears were flapping in the wind. A-OOOOOO!

Every where I turned, there were dogs lined up with their owners on the streets waiting for the dog parade. People in the parade threw out dog treats to the crowd, and I sniffed around looking for chicken bones and pizza. Check out some of the cool friends I made in the city.

Can I fly like Dumbo with these ears?

Being a basset hound is really cool, everyone in the city seems to like me! My ears help me capture smells from the ground with my long nose. If I didn't weigh so much and have short legs, I could probably fly like Dumbo.

Next week I am going to sniff around Saint Louis, Missouri to see if I can find other dogs that look like me. Every year this cool city hosts the World's Largest Mardi Gras Pet Parade. My nose is already in the air sniffing down the days until the pet parade.  A-OOOOOOOO!

Fabio the Basset Hound

Hi, I am Fabio. I am basset hound, and I live in the city. Some of my favorite activities include sniffing the ground as I travel down city sidewalks. Occasionally when I smell something good, I belt out a deep howl. A-OOOOOO!  My floppy ears drag on the street, and my tail wags from side-to-side. My belly is close to the ground, I have short legs and pigeon toed feet. My coat colors are brown, black and white.

When I walk down the street I love to meet new people, especially kids. Unlike humans, when I introduce myself to someone new I tend to slobber on your feet. When I am not busy sniffing the streets, I like to lay in the sun. Some of my favorite foods include cheese, spaghetti, pancakes, hamburgers and of course pizza!
